Default multiple warnings came on while driving

I have a 2013 S60 T5 and was driving this morning and all my warning lights started to come on one by one. First one I noticed was the traction control, brakes, check engine, parking brake, etc, and my speedometer started going all the way up and down. There was no change in the way it drove. I know I need to hook it to a computer to get the codes but has anyone else have this happen? should I disconnect the battery? I dont know if this was a factor but it was super foggy. Thanks

it sounds like you may have have an issue with the ABS module or one of the speed sensors that feeds into it. Also its possible that you have an alternator or voltage regulator issue where the system voltage dropped low enough to cause the various computers to fault. Disconnecting the battery won't clear any of the codes. If you have a multi-meter, check your battery voltage with the engine off and then check again with the car running and watch for a few minutes. Also inspect the battery terminals/cables, wires to the alternator for any signs of corrosion, bubbling insulation etc. If you decide to scan for codes, check out a local Autozone etc and see if they will loan/rent an OBD2 reader - just make sure its capable of reading ABS codes. Post up the codes you find but don't erase as your tech will want to see them. Also check out the Xemodex web site as they have some diagnotics flow charts for ABS controllers and other modules.

Thanks for the knowledgeable info, luckily I was able to get an appointment for later today. It really was the craziest thing having all the warnings come on like that. The only warning light I ever see is oil pressure on sharp turns when oil level drops because I believe my car also has an oil consumption issue. I will let you know what I find out.

Is this a good reader or is there another one that you would recommend?

see if Xemodex or Midwest ABS will rebuild your unit. that will save some big bucks and avoids the programming of a new unit.

Thank so much mt6127! yeah it cuts the price in half. How major of a repair is it? is it something you would trust with an independent shop or dealership only?
