I OWN 2012 s60 t5 AND HAVE NOTICED A DRASTIC CHANGE IN GAS MILEAGE AFTER THE 7500 MILE MANUFACTURERS SCHEDULED SERVICE. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALLER TO FIND OUT WHY. NOTHING IS WRONG TEST IT SOME MORE AND REPORT BACK. DID,NOTHING DIFFERENT. DEALER TOOK CAR FOR THREE DAYS OF TESTING. NOTHING FOUND. STILL THE MILEAGE PROBLEM, COULD IT BE SOMETHING CHANGED DURING THE 7500 MILE CHECKUP?

How much mileage difference are you seeing? Has this been seen over more than one tank of gas?

 

the mileage on the s60 before the service averaged mid to upper 20's , after mid teens. the mileage was done on a tank to tank basis. it has finally stttled to one tank in 20's one tank in teens. as I said in the initial communication this s60 is the fourth Volvo I've owned. 1. s70 milesge in the mid 20.s traded in for a v70 at 130000+. wife has an s40 wwith 40000 miles no problems. those 3 Volvos were a drivers dream. too bad someone totaled the v70 in a parking lot it was working toward 140000.

 

My S60 gets around 21mpg around the suburbs. If yours has dropped in the the teens that is a significant change. If it isn't throwing codes, must not be anything serious enough for that. I assume you've checked all the tire pressures. Nothing extremely heavy added to the trunk? Look to see that the engine cover they removed is secure and isn't hanging down in the air stream. I see cars with that all the time. Ensure that the car rolls freely. You can jack and spin the wheels or point it downhill and see if it will roll away easily. There could be a vacuum leak under the hood somewhere.
