Newbie! 2007 S60R!
Hi,
I'm new to the forums, and to Volvo cars! I just bought my first Volvo from Autoquest in Seattle. They specialize in luxury lease returns (Volvo, Audi, BMW, Lexus, etc). I bought a 2007 S60R in electric blue and so far I LOVE it! 300HP, manual, and less than 30k miles, what's not to love?
And then the bad news came...
Yesterday I went to start it and the clutch pedal just dropped all the way to the floor. We checked fluid levels and all looked fine, but no clutch; undriveable. Had it towed to the mechanic and it turns out the brake slave cylinder needs to be replaced - parts and labor is close to 2k. OUCH! The dealer is calling Volvo tomorrow to see if it will be under warranty, but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in such an expensive repair bill on such a new car.
But other than that, I've really enjoyed the car!

Amazing color, wish I would of gotten mine in an R specific color. And it's Sonic Blue BTW. :-)
The Slave going out is pretty common issue with these cars. I hope for your sake it's under warranty only 30k miles. Do you know when the car's in service date was?
Are you in the Northwest area?

I hope you get it covered by the warranty. I'm usually not a big fan of extended warranty's but with the P2 R's, they have paid for them selves and then some in warranty work past 5year/50k mark.
If you're up to meeting a bunch of the local Volvo guys, There is a huge car show at iPd in Portland on Saturday the 21st.
More info here for the show, pre-GTG, and a Friday night cruise down with the NW crew.

Even if they don't approve it, he says the dealer would step up and at least help with it, which is more than fair. I've been really impressed with these guys so far. I was refered by several friends who are repeat customers and I can see why.RE: the meet, sounds like a lot of fun! I might actually try to attend that, thanks for the invite! Would it make sense to join the Swedespeed forum too? What's different about that one?
Thanks man!

Right on. I hope the do the job as a "good will" gesture for you, or like they said, at least help out a bit.
The iPd show is a lot of fun and get's a lot of good turn out. Definitely the biggest Volvo Event in the PNW.
Owning an R, you almost need to join Swedespeed. It has the most active R specific forum on the web. You'll get quicker and very knowledgeable help for any questions you have that may come up. Though some of the members can be a bit harsh at times unlike Volvoforums. Just gotta have a little thicker skin and do some general research before you post tons of "newb" questions. Once you get a hang of the croud they are a lot of fun.

BTW, been reading a lot about my slave cylinder issue on the SS forums. Looks to be a pretty common occurrence, even at low mileage:
Swedespeed Forums - Documenting Slave Cylinder Failures
Also seeing a lot of stuff about the EBD. I plan to pull this thing in my driveway as soon as I get it back from the shop, then have the resonator delete mod done at a muffler shop.
Reading lots of Volvo repair cost horror stories too, but the consensus seems to be you have a rock solid car once all the repairs are finally done. Perhaps I should shop around for an aftermarket warranty. Oh well, I knew the risks of buying a used euro car when I bought it!
Thanks again,

I completely forgot to mention the EBD. That was the first thing I did to my car the day I got it. The resonator delete came the next day. The guys at the exhaust shop didn't believe me about the resonator hitting the drive shaft to create the "rain squeal", until they cut it out and saw the score mark on the drive shaft and the dent on the resonator. Lol.
There have been some of the horror stories about repair bills, but keep in mind those of us that haven't had any problems don't complain. Lol. In the 40k+ miles and 3 years I've owned the car, I've only had to replace my radiator, my Power steering pump, lower trans mount and control arm bushings. Currently at 66,xxx miles.

Just found out that Volvo corporate won't cover the repairs even though its only 30 days out of warranty, but AutoQuest is stepping up to cover it instead. I can't say enough good things about those guys! So, hoping to get my car back next weekend. Turned to be a pretty killer Friday!
Congrats, That's Way cool AutoQuest is taking care of you!!! That's how a place can earn a customer for life. And maybe Volvo should take a lesson with there "Volvo For Life" campaign... Lol.
Also SS got the Registration issue fixed. Just tried it out and it looks good.

I frequent Swedespeed more than here. It's only because there's a forum dedicated to the R's and the discussion topics are usually a bit more educated, I guess that would be the right way of saying it. There's just too many noob's over here. I agree that volvoforums is less harsh, though.
