Default NO OIL PRESSURE STOP ASAP

I have an 01 S60 2.4T with 126k miles. I have recently been getting the "NO OIL PRESSURE STOP ASAP" message off and on lately. It flickers in and out then disappears for a few days only to reappear every now and again. There does not appear to be anything wrong, but this message is annoying...especially when you are 8 hours from home. Is this yet another common S60 quirk or actually something wrong? With all the quirks on this car, its hard to tell what is real and what is not. Thanks.

Oil pan o-rings might be bad.

Hey Tech, you seem to be extremely savvy on answering questions. I've got an '01 S-80 that is shooting the "no oil pressure" message. I know it needs the o-rings replaced but at $580 dealership quote. I cant really afford it right now. I get the message on sharp corners and at idle. Is this something that's dire and needs to be fixed, or can it wait?

Dealership mentioned something about some kind of sealant they sell with the oil pan gasket kit. Is this something I can guide my mechanic into doing, or is it better off done at the dealership? From what I've read, the dealership doesn't seem to know much about it either.

From what i've gathered in your past posts, there's 5 o-rings, engine needs to be hoisted and subframe dropped. anything I'm missing? Is it safe to say i should replace the oil pump as well? Or like in doing the timing belt, the water pumps rarely need changing on these cars, is it the same for oil pumps?

Thanks ahead of time,

Josh

Your tech should be able to handle it as long as he has a tool to lift the motor some.

Yes 5 o-rings.

No on replacing the oil pump.

If you look at the top of this section I believe I made a post with the instructions from Volvo. Maybe get the tech to look it over and see if he thinks he can handle it.

You can go a little like that but I would not go to long. I would use the Volvo sealer if you can get it. That is really good stuff.

I have a 2001 Volvo s60 2.4t. My no oil pressure stop asap light came on, and I'm leaking a little oil from the turbo around the air intake hose that connects to the turbo. Could that be a reason for my no oil pressure an is there a way I can fix my oil pressure . an the leak on my turbo..

First thing to do is to stop driving it. Block PCV system can put oil in the intake system.
Second is to verify the oil pressure using a mechanical oil gauge.
If the oil pressure is fine, then the oil pressure gauge sensor is probably bad. If the oil pressure is not fine, you have an internal engine problem.

If you don't have the ability to do the work yourself, paid an mechanic who can.
