noise of wind?
Bought a 07 volvo s60.
has a weird noise while driving (only on the highways, at higher speed, never on the city roads)
the noise is not a mechanical one, I mean its not a noise from engine, but just like a lot of wind blowing...
what might be the cause? can tires cause such a noise? or something else? any suggestions? i can barely listen to the radio with this noise.
thanks

Tires can definitely create road noise. Do you see any cupping or uneven wear? Try moving the fronts to the rear to see if that changes the noise level. Have an alignment done to make sure there's not too much toe in... If there's cupping/wear then you'd need new tires or just pretend you're driving on snows.. (VW CCs are notorious for cupping tires - google "VW CC tire noise" for some good info)
If its really wind noise, are the windows rolling all the way up? are the door seals properly installed? Are the doors hanging straight? Is the car missing any shrouds? Does the AC/heater work properly (ie fan noise? fresh air coming in properly etc?)

Thank you for your suggestion.
I need to change tires soon but I realized its not the tires
There must be something wrong with the doorseals, sounds exactly like when wind rushed in through the open windows
Is changing door seals expensive. Can I do it myself? I am not much mechanic/repair oriented person

not sure if the seals are the kind that stick on with glue or if they are slotted to fit over a metal edge. Usually when they come off you can just re-glue them back into place. If they are missing you'd probably need to get the part from a dealer...
