Default Odometer Screen half-pixellated (2011 S60)

Hi - we have a 2011 S60 (~103,000km, ~64k miles). Today the car started fine then then left half of odometer screen went blank, after that it just showed random pixels. See pic below. Pixels stay even after several ignition cycles, lock/unlock etc. Is this correctable somehow or trip to dealer required?

I have an OBD2 bluetooth scanner but have not tried it yet to see if there is something to reset via that. This car has largely been great but so many maintenance issues now popping up around this 100k mark, enough that my wife is starting to ask about a new S90 Hybrid (so this is getting very expensive in a hurry!)

Thanks.

that looks more like a dead screen versus a programming or electrical issue but the dealer can use VIDA to check for voltage/ground points etc. A replacement will run in the $750 US range so you may want to see if you can find a used one for much less.

Appreciate your take. Is this screen integrated into the speedometer or separate from that? As you can see it shows km/h on speedometer since car originally from Canada but we are in USA right now so if they are replacing anyhow I would guess it be a MPH one (or combo)? I have often wondered if dealer here would refit it with a Mi/H if I did a trade-in (currently car shows MPH on digital screen in RPM instrumentation). Would like to be armed with some info before dealing with the dealer maintenance side, and whether that $750 might be screen only or the full odometer/speedometer piece. Do you have a part number perhaps? (if I am looking used, what do I search for..."odometer screen" etc.?) Thanks so much.

Update: dealer maintenance had a look and their assessment to fix is to replace the DIM, at a cool $1800 plus tax. They claim most of the cost is in the part (?) Still deciding what to do.

Yep, they are expensive. Check xemodex.com to see if they're fixing the P3 DIMs yet.

Thanks for suggestion. I bought a 2015 S60 TFT and will be doing that as the upgrade.

Xemodex seems to offer 'program transfer service" for a few hundred but I still need to supply the new DIM unit to them. Anyhow I am first going to try the plug-and play-TFT swap and see how that goes. The TFT DIM was $300 free returns so that is a lot cheaper to try than $1800, will see how it goes! As noted above my odometer is KM so interested to see how it pulls up a mix there, right now I have MPH showing in the right hand DIM screen so in a TFT that should just be the main display. Supposedly the TFT pulls from computer so should be all the same as I have now on my two screens.

Interestingly Xemodex notes that some of the DIM error codes include SRS warnings etc. - I had those earlier in summer, but dealership said it was the actual SRS airbag controller module that had shorted (another $1500 fix), now I wonder if it was partly DIM related. Who knows.
