Default P0014

I have a 2001 S60, I received a P0014 error code and the no oil pressure please stop vehicle message the other day. I changed the oil and that did not help. I installed a new cvvt solenoid hoping that would solve the issue but, it did not. The car runs great and the motor is not making any noise. Anyone have any suggestion as to what could be causing the code and message?

Well your getting the code due to an oil pressure loss, this could be a bad oil pump or a bad o-ring at the oil pump pick up tube. The o-ring at the pick up tube is not an uncommon issue specially if oil changes were neglected. I would advise not to run the engine until you get it fixed, although its running good the low or lack of oil pressure will or can cause major harm to your engine.

Dropped the oil pan and thoroughly cleaned it, I installed new o rings and put it all back together. Drove the car for five miles then the no oil pressure light came on. Turned the car off and drove if two mile then the light came on again. I repeated the process and the light came on again. I started the car about an hour and just let it run and it has been parked, running and no code. Can anyone tell me what is going on??????

Well you got the most common problem for an oil pressure loss taken care of, most of the time its just that O-ring on the pick up tube.

Other issues that it could be ....Bad pressure sensor or bad oil pump.

what did the inside of the pan look like?

At this point I would go with an engine flush to break up the debris. I have only done one of a volvo and that was my sons 2002 S60 with 300k , I did the engine flush around the 260k ish point.

I am am an old school mechanic so check with others to make sure this is what you want to do. But I'll tell you what I did and see if others chime in.

I used straight kerosene as an engine flush up here in Maine its cheap and they sell it at the gas station as heating oil. I let the engine warm up a bit first then drained the oil. Put the drain plug back in and filled it with kerosene started it for about a minute , shut it down pulled the plug and let it drain. I do this again but the second time I did not start the car because I put in more Kerosene then it takes for engine oil so the second time over fill it with kero and let it sit over night. Remember do not start the car if it has to much fluid in it , its ok for the cleaning solution to be over filled and that high over night but do not start it. I was told that I could have ran the engine longer with the kerosene in it but I was to afraid that I was going to harm the engine.

I was also doing a PCV at the time of the flush and put some kero down the oil return line to clean that passage was as well. I am sure you got that one clean tough because you had the oil pan off. But that passage can be sealed shut with crud mine was.
