Hi all. My first post. I am in the enviable (or not) position of having 2 2002 S60 Volvos, so when one breaks, I can transfer parts from the other which aids me in diagnosing specific problems. Then I buy the replacement part on ebay or thru used parts and in this way keep both running. I have read in the forums that sometimes parts need to be reprogrammed, but so far I haven't had any compatibility problems.
Recently had one car's power seat (driver) stop working. Switched seat from other car and it worked, so problem in seat. Switched computer module under seat and found bad computer module.
Found lots of replacement computer modules for various models on ebay for between $50 and $100. One of the sites (Elite-Auto Parts Used) has a compatibility list that says that this is a multi-year muti-model compatible part for most any model between '99 and '09 and models S60- XC90. The picture looks good, part #228513, and he wants $67 for it. (off 2008 XC90, 78,000 miles)
I found another on ebay (NOT from Elite-Auto Parts) for $49, part # 9472869 (off 1999 S80 142,000 miles) and according to the other parts Elite-Auto Parts compatibility list, it should work on my 2002 S60. The pictures of both parts are identical to mine and I am inclined to go with the cheaper $49 one. Is there anywhere that I can run the part number or has anyone had any experience with this? There is no comparable number on the module I removed.
Maybe I will have model/year compatibility issues? The elite-Auto Parts place seems to think it is a multi year model part.

 

Did you end up getting one of these? I have the same issue with my seat and am also seeing the mixed documentation.

 

No, I did not follow through, but I plan on going ahead with it in the next couple of days and will post an update when I get it. I think I will send a question to the seller to see what they think. At least I should be able to get my parts money back if it doesn't work.

 

I found a seat control module from an S80 on ebay, tried it on my S60 and it works fine. The site I bought from did not say it would fit or work, but I found another source that said it would work, so I tried it.
