Parts Swapping - S60R to S60 and 2005 to 2004?
Hi guys - I think I know the answer to the first question already but was hoping someone could confirm:
Is it possible to swap an S60R instrument console into an S60 (2004 model year)? From what I've read, it's impossible to replace the whole unit due to some CANBUS issue. But many have swapped the gauges themselves. Sounds like a few hours of work, but nothing major. Or? If you can switch the whole unit out, what happens to the odometer reading - is it from your car or the donor car?
This one I've got no idea on - hopefully someone here has tried it and knows:
Can you swap the cup holder cover or center console storage cover from a 2005 S60 to a 2004 S60? It looks like the cup holder cover changes from a solid single piece that folds "down" on the passenger side on the 2004 model into a roll-up design on the 2005 and up models? The center console storage cover on the 2005 looks the same size as the 2004, but has the addition of what appear to be latch buttons on the sides.
I believe another option may be to simply replace the entire center console - rip out the stock 2004 one and replace it with a 2005 one, but that seems somewhat extreme.
Thanks for any information you might have on the above!

I am pretty sure you can only swap the gauges. Also, the odometer reading is saved to the ECU, so swapping that will not cause an issue. The odometer will still be correct.
As for the cup holders, can't do just the cup holders. You need to do the whole center console. Also, there will be a gap between the gear changer and the climate control.
