2004 volvo v70 transmission problem after swapping engine
Hi Everyone,
Greetings from AZ.... I am a newbie of volvo and forums and I need HELP!!!
Just swapped a used engine on my 2004 volvo v70 2.4 fwd (non-turbo). The entire engine and automatic transmission were removed from the car. Now with everything back in, the car starts up and runs great but when shifted into gear it will not move. The shifter moves into all positions, but the car does not move. I used the correct transmission fluid and it is filled to the correct level, any ideas on my problem? I know the axle is engaged because when the shifter is on park unable to move wheel if its on R N D 4 3 L wheels move freely. took out the hose from radiator to see if it pumps out fluid and it does not... wires from the trans are all connected is there any thing else i missed before the install? The car was moving before I did the swap, I appreciate your help... Thanks

Hello, You "took out the hose from radiator to see if it pumps out fluid and it does not...". If your transmission pump isn't pumping you're not going to engage anything within the transmission. The only thing I know to look at would be the PNP switch. See that all the metal within it are making contact as they should. It's the only guess I have. Kira

Hi Kira, Thanks for your reply.... The PNP looks and sounds ok i tried unplugging the wire and it would not start but if I plug it back in then it starts so its seems that its working. thanks... by the way should the pump pumps as long as the engine is running? i got nothing
