Default PCV valve replacement

2006 volvo S60 2.5T
What are indications its time to change the pcv valve? At what intervals should it be changed and how difficult is the process?

One sign of a failed pcv system is smoke coming out of the oil dipstick tube. Engine running, lift the dipstick out and watch for any slight smoke coming from the tube. Recommended intervals are 100k miles, but it varies. It's a fairly involved process for replacing it. (I think all of that is correct, though not certain.)

Do s60's have a PTC nipple that needs to be cleaned? I took out my whole air intake tube and noticed that the PTC is slightly different compared to some pictures I've seen off a 850... The s60 PTC does not have a nipple that tee's off into the PTC. Sooo what exactly am I supposed to clean then?
