Default Performance upgrades for 2001 Volvo S60 2.4T

Can someone advise me on the types of performance upgrades I can make on my 2001 Volvo S60 2.4T? I know I can upgrade the exhaust.

Right now, I have a K&N Filter. It works well.

Are there more upgrades I can make?

Also, can someone tell me which exhaust I should get for my car? I do not know the names of the best companies anymore.

Thanks!

K&N filters don't really add any performance over the factory airbox on a stock 2.4T. Upgrading the exhaust will only make the car louder... If you want to add performance, the biggest ROI is by having an ECU tune done (budget $500-700). After that, consider upgrading to a 3" downpipe (the piece of the exhaust between the turbo and the cat). Budget another $500 here. Run 93 octane gas. Make sure the car is in excellent tune - plugs, coils, vacuum lines etc. After that, you can go to a bigger turbo for another $500+, with larger injectors... Check out some of the Volvo friendly web sites (the ARD site is good for this kind of research).

I actually want a louder exhaust. I am worth it. I work hard.

I did some research. I found Flowmaster. It is apparently the best. Should I get it?

I'd look towards Borla. Flowmasters turn into rust.

Thanks for the info.

I found this one made by Polestar: Volvo S60. #31454565: Exhaust system kit (Tech Matt Black). Polestar Performance Intake &

It seems like it would be the smartest option, since it was made in conjunction with Volvo.

What do you think?

ipd and viva both have bolt on cat back systems for volvos. Flowmaster would require that you purchase the muffler and resonator and take them to a shop for installation.
