Default Point me in the right direction. New Volvo owner 2002 S60 2.4T

Hey guys,
I just bought a 2002 s60 2.4T. I am wondering what these cars are acapable of. It is automatic and front wheel drive. I originally bought it as a commuter 2 days ago but naturally I want to add more power. Is this car combo a good candidate for power? Is it easy to convert to manual? I have allways done my work on all my Chevy trucks which I understand is a completely differnt ballgame. This cars pick up needs to get to my Silverados mid 12 second level or close to it (if I can do it cheaply) Please help the noob out.

Thanks in advance guys

Also, I have a few other noob questions

I have a delay when I shift from park into reverse or drive. What could this be?

My trans has a W button. When I push the button it changes from w to d. IIRC the w feels like it lags.

I just got a message on the gauge cluster stating "coolant low stop engine" I need to know what type of coolant this needs.

My fuel guage doesnt work. Could this be the float or relay?

i dont think converting to manual would be easy, I havent seen anyone do it yet, youd probably need to replace a few computer modules and need a donor car to tear apart the interior

as for the performance theres a few options out there.. new airbox, fatter exhaust with convertor delete and computer upgrades. you might see 230hp http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-S60-P2/E...-392-394-2193/

these transmissions are known for this, if you do a search you will find a few topics, in my case I flushed the tranny fluid (using the flush kit) and it reduced the delay a whole bunch... also its important to top off the fluid just right, these transmissions are very sensitive to where the fluid level is, another things to try are the B4 servo Cover update or the ECU update at the dealer.. if all that fails the next step is to replace the valve body which is pricey. They used this transmissions/engine combo for only one year (2002). In 2003 they changed the transmission and engine(2.5T).. so finding a replacement tranny for example could be difficult.

W is the winter mode button, it just starts the car off in 2nd gear to reduce wheelspin

I just used the regular 50/50 mix green stuff at the auto store but other might recommend something else

this usually means the sending unit in the tank, but I would check the fuses too, theres some under the hood and in the trunk behind the left side panel in addition to the one on by the driver door

good luck with your S60

You could do a turbo upgrade if you want, find a used turbo from a T5.

As for coolant, I would recommend the OEM Volvo coolant. This coolant is formulated for aluminum blocks and it would be wise not to mix it.

a) Could be worn/dirty fluid. It could also be a winter condition.

My trans has a W button. When I push the button it changes from w to d. IIRC the w feels like it lags.

a) the "W" - Winter/Wet driving mode - enhanced vehicle traction button should only be used for mode may be selected for starting/ moving off on slippery roads. It is not recommended to drive with the "W" mode engaged. "D" is the mode to use on the highway.

I just got a message on the gauge cluster stating "coolant low stop engine" I need to know what type of coolant this needs.

a) Top off with Volvo Genuine Coolant/Antifreeze only (a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze).
