Default Purchased 2003 S60 AC not working.

Hello everyone! Hope to get a bit of advise, great forum, done quite a bit of reading already. Priceless really!

I just purchased the car, Naturally aspirated btw. The previous owner said he took it into find out the A/C issue and was told it required a new ECU. Could this be correct? If so i had no idea the AC was controlled by it.

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

that sounds a little crazy But i guess possible. What usually happens with these cars is the clutch or bearing goes in the AC unit and this empty the system or if you are like me the clutch seizes up and blows the sep belt in to bits and destroys the power steering pump pulley with it.
Now the AC units are expensive to buy new /rebuild but the salvage yards are full of them and at $75 its worth the try. They pretty simple to replace your self or a 3hr job at most shops.

Is the AC making any noise when it is on and clutch in engaged ? when you turn it on does the clutch engage ? You should be able to hear it when it kicks in. The car will idle a little different..
