Question for Tech or anyone who's seen this before
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forums as I recently bought a used 2004 S60 2.5T AWD with 150,000Km . The car is in georgeous condition;it drove better than many with less mileage.I just had the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and idler pulleys replaced. I'm also having the transmission flushed when I do the next oil change. But, there has been an issue with the steering since I got it.
When i first bought the car I noticed a low humwhenI would turn the wheel or press thegas. This issue showedupafter I made tight left turns, which got progressively louder when the car was driven longer. The only way it would go away would be to turn the car off and let it cool down for a few minutes. I brought this issue up with my mechanic who noticed that the steering fluid was a bit high. He drained some of it and the noise went away for the most part. Instead, there would be a loud grinding noise when I made tight left turns rather than humming all the time. When my mechanic did the timing belt replacement, he thought that the steering fluid level was low, so he topped it up and now the noise is back.
I would appreciate any insight anyone might have about this problem.
Thanks

Open the fluid bottle with a flashlight look inside the bottle where the small hose attaches to the back of the bottle by the engine. Do you see a plastic pipe going down?
Or do you see a copper pipe coming straight out.
If you only see a copper pipe then a new bottle should fix the problem.
