Default Quick oil change question

I attempted to change the oil on my mom's 05 S60 turbo and can not get the oil cap off. I don't have the tool, and NO one in town has it. Not Volvo, BMW, 3 of my mechanic buddies, or even the Matco distributor in town where the BMW and Volvo dealers get their tools at. The last person to put it on must have reallllllllly put it on there, because it's even thwarted my kung fu grip, even with a grippy pad like you use to remove lids off of jars.

So in order for my mom to be able to drive this thing for a day or two to work, I need to fill it back up until I can get one ordered. How much oil would I lose out of this high dollar Royal Purple I bought, if I remove the cap to change the filter out in a few days? I bought 7 quarts since it says it takes 6.1, so that way there'd be extra to top off with in case any burns off during the oil change interval.

I suppose if it leaks a lot it's no biggie to go buy 1 more quart, but I'll have 9/10ths or more of a quart left over from what I bought today.

I already ordered the part through IPD or whatever it's called, I was just curious how much oil I was going to lose.

Depends on how quickly you think you can put on the new filter. Just make sure you have the new filter in your other hand ready to go before you completely remove the old filter.

Just leave the filter until the next oil change. And don't buy Royal Purple.....geez. Especially not for your mom's car.

Slightly more than a cup. 6-8oz.

That was pretty easy. Popped the cap off, lost about 4-6oz. Slapped the Mann filter in place, new o-ring and job done. That wasn't so bad but woulda been impossible without that filter wrench from IPD.

A large pair of channel-lock pliers should get the oil cap off... something with grip and leverage.

Brutes.
