Default Rattling noise from A-pillar area in my V60

My V60 MY2014 has a really annoying rattling sound emerging from the A-pillar area when coming up to approx 105-110 km/h and above.
Driving slower, the noise is not there at all, it only starts when going above this speed.
I've removed the a-pillar trim, nothing loose or rattling from directly under there (like airbag strap, cable and drain tube are all in place and not making the noise).
I've also removed the air vents, buttons controlling the lights and parking brake, the insturment panel, as much as I could remove, and drove the car again, still the same rattling noise.
I'm kinda puzzled, could it be the windshield somehow not being correctly mounted? Or anything broken and loose within the pillar, which I cannot see?

I've managed to record the sound with a bit of help from my wife leaning over while I'm drving, not optimal but only way to record it rather safely... listen for yourself, has anyone heard this rattling noise before in this area and can suggest something new on top of what I've tried so far?

Hey did you ever figure this out?!

I have almost the exACT same sound on my 2020 S60 that appeared out of no where & now anytime I drive over 75mph I hear it.

I have it at the dealer right now & they claim they "cant hear anything" so I'm going on a test drive with them tomorrow morning to see if I can point it out better.

Thank you in advance!

No unfortunately I've not been able to figure this out yet, the sound is still there just the same. As I've previously removed all surrounding trim and other plastics, and the rattling sound remained, I suspect it being something loose inside the A-pillar on the lower end, which I'm thinking could be located with a camera perhaps but I haven't found a small enough camera yet to fit inside the A-pillar holes...

Has your dealer figured anything out yet?

**** thats so annoying I’m sorry So I went back today to go for a drive with them & the shop foreman finally heard it. We came to the conclusion (this hasn’t been done just yet) that it might be the weather stripping & the clips on the windshield left side because when we gently pull up on the strip it just pops right off & one of the clips won’t hold it. So we’re both thinking / hoping it’s that.

Idk if you messed with any of that area (I’m assuming you did) but he’s also going to check the side skirts, inside the wheel liner, & then like up inside once he gets the liner off. I’ll let you know any & everything they tell me once they look at all of that though! I hate that the sound is right in front of me though I never had this issue till it got cold out.

Aha, that's an interesting new angle! I've so far been looking from the inside but not yet looked at that weather strip on the outside. Makes sense it could be that plastic rattling, will take a look and report back. Cross fingers!

To me it sounds like it’s coming from inside the A-Pillar but it started as soon as it got cold so I have to imagine it’s coming from outside the car. Ive also noticed that when the car is wet or it’s raining, you hear nothing. Which tells me the water is filling the gap on whatever is rattling. & yeah let me know if your weather stripping is loose or one of the clips under it feels like it’s not holding the strip down! That’s what pointed me in this direction in the first place.

The buckle inside the weather strip on the left side of the windshield is broken, causing air leaks when driving at speeds over 110 kilometers per hour. I've been aware of this issue for over a year, but after replacing the buckle recently, the noise has disappeared.
Another possibility is that the buckle screw of the left front wheel lining is loose and needs to be checked step by step

Dude that is so funny I just got my car back today.. it was the clips under the weather strip on the driver side of my windshield. They ALSO worked on my wheel lining as well & padded it with foam & fixed a bunch of clips.

Sound is completely gone for me as well.
I'm so happy I found your post man now we can drive in silence. I hope you have a safe & Merry Christmas!!

Alex.

Also my rattle is gone now, such a relief! Thanks to your tips I started looking at the exterior weather strip and BINGO, the clip on the lower end was apparently broken and by sitting loose there it could rattle. See pictures, it is the one in the red ring. When I gently tapped it with my finger, I could clearly hear the sound it made, just like a loose pastic piece against a hollow metal piece would in higher speeds and forced by wind. I removed this lower clip, put everything else together again and now I can enjoy a silent ride.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
