So, I have just finished installing red LED lights to replace my factory bulbs and ran into something interesting. The factory bulbs that Volvo puts into those bulb housings above your license plate actually get so hot that they deteriorate the plastic on it. When I was replacing my bulbs, this is what I ran into...
The plastic on the bulb housings was so brittle that it was just falling apart by merely touching it.
The LED bulbs are going to help cut way down on heat and hopefully stop the deterioration. Plus, lets be honest, it looks way cooler.
