S60 in "W" mode?
hey, well i just had my first visit at the stealership. replaced oil and fixed broken gas door hinge. under warranty my vehicle was treated for a software upgrade. so heres the point to this thread. when i put the car in drive before visiting the dealer the gauge cluster read "D" drive. now after the stealer visit, it says "W"? and heres the catch, driving home i was stopped on a medium incline. when the light turned green and i let go of the brake, the car seemed to roll back. plus, it feels like my car is not using first gear anymore. the rpm's seem to take a long time to shift matching the speed. they are constanstly low. going from 0-55mph, the auto trans only shifted 4 times. i know the OD is working, (going 55mph @ 2,100 rpms) but i have a feeling that 1st gear is not even active. can anyone please give me some pointers so i can call the stealership back and have a good reference as to was is going on before i make a complete fool out of myself. thanks ya'll. the cars is fine other than that, besides a minor turbo seal leak. lol.... i will have it serviced soon...
The W stands for 'winter/wet' mode. The on/off button for this mode is located (on my car) just in front of the gear selector off to the left - a big 'W'. What this mode does is make the car sluggish as all get out. When its snowy or severe thunderstorms and 'W' isswitched on,the computer changes the shift points so there is less tire slipping. This must have just been turned on by mistake. It wont hurt anything but your MPG.
thats very imformative. i should just read my owners manual huh. but thank you for clarifing! and im sure its no mistake since it was raining very heavily these past two days here in chicago. when i was leaving the stealership it started to rain harder again.
quick question. is there turbo oil that has to be replaced? or is there anything that the turbo needs in order of maintenance?

Someone, correct me if I'm wrong, but unless Volvo uses a self lubricated turbo (sealed system) oil from the oil pan is circulated up to the turbo. This accounts for turbo models having a larger oil capacity (5.8qts v 6.1qts). So there is no maintenance with the turbo in that respect.
