Default S60 2.5T Rear Brake Pad Carriers Corroded

Today I replaced the front and rear brake pads on my 2006 S60 2.5T. I was surprised to find the rear outer brake pads frozen in the carrier. Rust and brake dust buildup. Cleaned everything up and applied brake grease but it appears that routine maintance (greasing) of the carriers is needed for proper brake operation. Anybody seen this before or have any other suggestions. Thanks.

Never had this happen to me before but I did have my ebrake pad crumple on me inside the rear drum and lock up my rear tire at 40 mph. The ebrake drum and pad is located inside the rear disk. The pads weren't extremely thin so I'm wondering if a buildup of rust and debris as you were mentioning is something to watch for in the rear brakes.

I see it all the time. The fronts I can clean with a wire brush usually. The rears often need an abrasive disc on an angle grinder.

My senor says " break low drive safely " my break light is on and my ABS. What does that mean exactly?
