S60 brake issues...
I've got a 2004 S60 with about 53,000 miles. I bought it used about 8 months ago. Overall, I'm very pleased with it. I think it has the original factory brakes. Lots of pad thickness left, and the discs seem in reasonable shape.
I noticed over the last several weeks that the brakes would intermittantly grab quickly if the moisture/humidity was high or they they would require significantly more pedal force to slow down. These things only happened once in a while, and the symptom would go away after just one stop. Just last week, while driving through some light to moderate rain, the brakes were quite effected; that is, it took quite a bit more pressure to slow the vehicle down. I've never had that happen in a car before, unless the wheels/brakes had actually been submerged in deeper water. I've never had the problem with my other Volvos, either.
Do the newer factory brake pads have a problem with water?
Thanks.
