Unhappy S60 camshaft timing off

I had my alternator replaced along with the auxillary belt and tensioner.
I had to pick up the car after hours and when I started the car it had an engine light.
It was diagnosted as the camshaft timing was off a notch. It is idling 150 RPM more than usually. Did the alternator work cause the problem or unrelated?

You brought a car that was going well and never had a timing off issue and it had an engine light after the repair. They must have screwed something. Replacing the accessories belt has nothing to to with the timing belt which is inside a cover.

Inspect if the accessories belt is routed properly, compare with this picture

Some alternators have a specific voltage regulator.

But I would rather guess they forgot to replace some vacuum hose or electrical connector.

Good luck!

I always get the Timing belt and Serpentine belt confused with the parts. It is one of the few jobs that I can't do actually prefer not to myself. With the transposed engine it is a bit more than someone who has learned everything in 3 years watching you-tube video's can do. (Seriously 3 years ago I barely knew what a spark plug was, done quite a bit since) But I want to say off the top of my head they always say you really need to replace the pulley, tensinor and idler. Especially if it the second time around. From everything I heard more often than not troubles aren't from the belts it is from the components. Assuming belts are changed withing recommended time, also not visually cracking etc.

If you gave a little vehicle history it might help.

Could be a PCV issue as I have now learned. If you have a Turbo it seems to be even more common. Never had a problem. But this is an awsome video by someone who is also a member on here. Pretty simple tests to run even by a non-mechanic.

The car was just worked on last week by another dealer. Just a coincidence according to them. They did however comment that the first dealer, Cherry Hill, should have seen the timing belt problem, it was the tensioner, and should never have given us the car back with an engine check light.
Thanks for question

Glad the second one sorted it out, they seem more professional.
