Error codes or error messages?

Error messages like that are explained in the owner's manual.

Thanks ES6T

The owners manual is extremely superficial and note of these MESSAGES are shown in mine(I'll show a pic shortly). The owner's manual seems to be written for people who can change a light bulb, but that's about it.

Moreover, none of the messages in the user manual come close to the thought and dialog that is found here on some messages.

So is there or can we pull together that complete list?

Gary

The problem is some of them have many possibilities. While "Bulb Failure Position Light" can only refer to one of four taillight bulbs, "Engine System Service Required" could be many things. The fault codes stored in the car would need to be read for things like that.

The messages I refer to are the error messages that appear on the left side of the dashboard. It is those messages I originally asked about, and yes, for those messages there may be one or many reasons for that message - and it the list of those messages, probable cause and potential solution that I am looking for.

Yes, the Check Engine Light (message), right side of dashboard, is retrivable by use of an OBDC reader. In this case, it is OBDC2. I have an AutoEnginuity device that allows me to read those standard codes for this car. AutoEnginuity does not have the "add on" for Volvo's, so detail codes like oxygen sensor readings, timing, specific vacuum leaks, cylinder and valve status aren't available.

So, ES6T, looks like you've posted here for awhile. Have you not seen such a list?

I haven't been here that long and haven't seen such a list, sorry.

There are other messages that need a scanner, like Engine System Service Required or Transmission System Service Required.
