Default S60 Fuel Filter

My 2001 S60, non-turbo, just hit 100k. I'm looking at preventative maintenance and wanted to change the fuel filter. I searched the forum (really), and know that it should be on the passenger side, in front of the rear tire and that no special tools are needed. But can anyone describe the steps involved? What regular tools are needed? I haven't changed a fuel filter before.

Along with that, IPD and others seem to have multiple choices, including two Bosch parts: one is longer (5.25") and one shorter (3.25"). Which do I need?

Really the only tools you will need is a wrench or ratchet and a floor jack or ramp. As for which part you need, it depends on the chassis number (Volvo changed parts mid-year). You can find your chassis number easily (it's the last 6 digits of your VIN). Less than 18763 gets the longer one, over 18763 gets the shorter one. Here is the link to my post:

Many thanks! I'll check my VIN for the part.
