1987 240dl Fuel Filter Replacement—Depressurizing fuel system question...
Hi folks.
Need to put in a new fuel filter asap, but having no luck de-pressurizing the fuel system. I followed the instructions in my Haynes manual: remove the main fuel pump fuse, start car, its supposed to stall, then open the gas tank and good to go. Only problem is I removed both the main and internal fuel pump fuses and the car just doesn't stall out. Any recommendations or tricks? thanks!

there is no fuse on the main fuel pump.
anyways, the residual pressure will at most make a little sput of fuel on a LH system, dont sweat it. its K-Jet systems that have a pressure accumulator and much higher fuel pressures where you would be concerned. do wear eye protection in case that 'sput' squirts a drop in your face ...
