S60 R Brake Squeal
Just bought an S60 R with ~46K miles and my right real brake is squeeling pretty bad when I press the brakes between light and heavy. Seems to go away a briefly after wash. No Squeel when I stop real hard, or real soft - just in between. Frequency of the squeel seems pretty consistant.
Been to the dealer - brakes have been lubed and de-glazed for about $180. This lasted for ~two weeks -then the squeel returned. Brakes have about 70% left and rotors are good according to the dealor. Noise only seems to come from right rear brake.
Any suggestions?. I read a TBN regarding shims the other day - not sure if my car has them in. Reading edmunds and although this isn't common, it seems to be a issue about 1/3 the cars. Dealor claims that 3 good stops on the brakes will glaze them over. I don't buy this at all. Is this a cop out?

Thanks S60 R.
Had this done twice now by different dealers. Seems to last for about two weeks, then the squeal is back.
I've done some experiments and noticed that when I break really hard, the squeal disappears. Is there any chance that there is something wrong with the master cylinder not supplying enough fluid to the calipers?
Do you think having the system flushed would help?
At this point, I'm up in arms with this, but want some advice before I start experimenting with replacing parts one at a time until the issue is solved.
Any help is nice.
By the way. Squeal only happens to come from rear brakes. Not front brakes. In particular it seems to be coming from the right rear wheel

unlikely but i wonder if the previous owner put new pads on the car and did not use good metallic pads.. if you dont they will squeel really bad.. mine did when i bought it.. then i put some nice pads on it and fixed the squeeling..
Hello,
Just registered for the forums after finding this on google. I just purchased a 2006 S60 AWD yesterday and today, for the first time, noticed the brake squeal. It's exactly as you described. If I'm at a decent speed and get on brakes fairly hard, no squeal. But there is a "zone" between light and heavy where the brakes squeal somewhat heavily.
I was wondering if this was "normal". As someone else mentioned, I never noticed it until I was riding around with the windows down. I was probably too distracted by the rattle from the window ticket holder.
