S60 Steering Issue
Greetings first time poster but long time viewer,
today i had an interesting and not so pleasent experience, it felt like a scene from the movies.
Basically i was driving down the Jackie Robinson in NYC when my steering went limp. It felt like the steering wheel was not connected and i can turn the wheel felt it wasnt giving any resistance at all. I dont know if it was the stability control doing the opposite of what its doing but i ended up fishtailing out and hitting the concrete. about 3 months ago i had a similar experience when i was turning onto a ramp, the steeringwheel went limp and i just went straight and afterwards i realized when i stopped and put the car in park that the wheel was turned 5 times to the left because i kept turning and turning after seeing no effect. Usually one cannot turn the wheel more than 2 times (720deg rotation). Is this the stability control? "safety" feature of some sort? Because it didnt make me feel safe at all...
So the end result is fear of driving, loss of entire back bumper, and busted/lost rear lights and light housing...
Anyone have an similar experience or have any tips or advice? I am still a bit shaken up since this just happened less than 2 hours ago.
Thank you all in advance,
HW
