S60 T5 or AWD
The T5 is a very powerful platform thus with AWD you will not have the performance loss of wheel spin. Being you are in Canada that leaves one answer from both the performance and safety standpoint, AWD.
Less problems of the two I would probably have to say AWD so long as you keep it aligned and maintained properly.

My 04 S60R which is AWD gets about 25-28 mpg on the highway...and about 22-24 in town. Like I said if you keep it maintained it will last....same with every other car, on the AWD S60's you can also disable the Haldex which turns it into a 2WD vehicle.
Well I've made a decision. A black on black 2004 AWD, preferred silver but I'm getting it for wholesale, so I'll live with black. It has 80,000 and is coming off a lease from Volvo Canada. What are the first things to inspect on the car in regards to service?
Do the following....
80k miles....time for that timing belt to be changed
inspect rotors and brake pads
Transmission Flush
Oil/Filter Change
Belt inspection
Suspension Inspection/alignment
Coolant Flush
Obtain all the service records you can, if it's coming off lease odds are it's got a very detailed service record somewhere.
My 04 R came off a lease and I have every single routine maintenance record, as it pulled up the dealership that maintained it on CarFax.

If your still in the market for an S60T5 mine is coming off lease in June/07
It's an 04 with currently 35,000 Km Black on Black and Black tinted windows,
but not AWD as I prefer the feel of the car rather than the AWD. I have owned
6 Volvo's over the last 20 years.

akirk6884- Thanks for the advice. I'll be checking out the car tomorrow.
GS855- That is very tempting. But living in Ontario I think the AWD is a better choice. PM me with your buyback and we can discuss it. I do have some extra cash that may permit the purchase of a second one.

The buyout in June is $31,203.00, I live in Vancouver so no rust!!
Your probably right about AWD in Ontario winters but we had some decent snowfall
this winter and I live up on a mountainside and had no problems. I think being able to
use the geartronic/tiptronic whatever its officially called and gear down into 1st and 2nd
for slippery conditions works fabulous. My wife had the 04 XC90 and I liked my handling
better.
