My tranny did the same thing. I flushed the fluid and replaced with OEM fluid. This fixed it for about 6 months. Then while driving up a hill it slammed out of gear, went into limp mode and threw every light on the dash including service transmission light.

I took it in and was told two codes which meant I needed a new torque converter and valve body. 3 torque converters, 3 valve bodies and $3200 later it seems to finally be running fine.

Fingers crossed it stays this way.

Actually, it is by no means "complete" but I hope it provides a good start for anyone with these problems.

just a reminder, if none of the above that was done (which i mention before). volvo will not warrenty the tranny even if it is new.
