Default S60 Transmission Noise - Bearing??

Hello Guys,

My first post here. Thanks for the amazing forum.

At about 6k miles ago, after a normal service (oil change), I start hearing a bearing noise. My car has now 44k miles on it.

First mechanic changed the wheel bearing, vainly, nothing change!

Second one, diagnosed it as a noise coming from the gearbox (transmission), specifically from the differential bearing of the transmission. Not a differential found in a AWD cars.

He told me that to be sure, he would need to open the transmission and check it. But after examining a bit more, he told me it’s better just leave it like this. The bearing is making noise, but it’s not worth it to open the transmission to repair.

Attached you can find two videos. One shows someone rotating the tire with the engine off.
The other one show the noise happening right after I turn the engine off.

What can it be? If it’s the transmission bearing, where can I buy a replacement bearing?

I hope someone can help me!
thank you all!

have you done a fluid change on the Aisin? I'd say a bearing fail in a transmission is pretty rare - more likely it could be an axle/cv joint. Since its a FWD there's no bevel gear or haldex etc to service so I'd have the shop look at the axles to make sure they are seated properly and have no signs of wear/failure.

hi!!
thanks for the message.
im a bit afraid to change fluid coz people say it could start sleeping gear a lot after that.

After search a lot I’m a bit suspicious of being the supercharger or the torque converter. But this is based only on my on-line research and felling.

what a can feel now is the 3rd gear start to sleep a little bit when changed from 2nd. Hard to explain and at the same time it’s not a lot.

I drive it everyday and I’m a professional musician, so I pay a lot of attention to every little noise. 😥
