Default S60 turbo and stop start function

I am considering buying a new S60 but I am concerned about damage to the turbo bearings when the engine shuts off. As we all know turbo's spin at a high rate of knots, when the engine shuts off oil isn't being pumped into the turbo bearings. Is there some kind of turbo protection or has anyone had problems with turbo's?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Generally speaking, unless you are drag racing between stop lights, the turbo won't get that much use in those situations where you are likely to engage the stop start function, so it really shouldn't be that much of a concern. Also, how long would you plan on keeping the car? Even if there is an issue it is not the kind likely to show up for many years.

Thanks for the reply.

I have owned and driven turbo diesels for many years including HGV's and pick up trucks, I have always let the engine idle before turning off, so this is totally alien and feels totally wrong to me.

However, with the 5 year warranty any turbo problems will be down to Volvo, I don't do a great of mileage a year so hopefully there shouldn't be any problem in my life time.
