About ready to buy an '06 S60R with 25K miles. Owner says a while back the boost failed completely, and was then repaired by the dealer. New to this forum, I did a search but didn't find anything about this. Any ideas about the cause, or concerns I should have? Thanks in advance.

I would test drive the car before actually paying for it, take it to a dealer or independent specialised shop for pre-purchase inspection and ask the current owner for the proof of turbo repair.

Open the hood and visually inspect the turbocharger for fluid leaks, cracks, etc...

I would ask what was the issue was specifically, was the turbo bad, was it replaced or rebuilt, was it the boost controller or something else. Find out specifically what the problem was and what was done to correct it. Then you will know if it was a fluke or something a bit more sinister. lol
