Default S60T5 poor gas milleage

Good morning my friends
I have a S60T5 2001 with 75000m.
Tune-up has been made recently (spark plugs,filter..etc..) but the car still give a poor gas milleage performance 12l/100km city and 10.5l/100km highway
The brake are not dragging ,tires inflate correctly.....The car is driven smoothly...
Could somebody help me ,please

I have the same car, about the same mileage too!
I just picked it up this week, I think its been averaging about the same mileage but I've been using the turbo a lot..
Anyways you are using 93 octane gas correct? Make sure you do thats crucial for these cars.
BTW I need to do an oil change on mine, do you guys recommend synthetic for an '01 S60 T5 or no??

Hi
Thanks to answer to my thread..... I am running the car smoothly.....I am a bit surprised ..I use to have a Saab 9.5 turbo 2,3l and I could get like 7 l/100 on highway!!! 10l/100 city....

It is better to use synthetic if you race the car like that....This is a high performance engine (2.3l for 247HP)
I use 91 octane not 93...do you think it could be so bad.....
I seen people putting regular gas in these cars!!!

Thats about normal consumption to be honest if you don't drive around like a complete *****. But at the same token you could need new o2 sensors.

wow that is REALLY low - i run 50/50 stop and go versus highway and run at 25mpg with aggressive driving (typically about 28.5)

start with the fuel filter.

Make sure that you are using GOOD fuel and GOOD oil

Run some fuel injector cleaner through and post up your results.

.
Most of my driving is around town - average speed is below 30. I have never done better than 20mpg.

I am realy surprised to see the MPG you guys are getting I have a 2003 S60 AWD 2.5T W/ Geartronic and have owned the car 2 years or so and MPG is always been 17-18 with 93oct gas and up keep is always done on car. But i do drive her hard.I use the 5 speed Geartronic around town a lot could this be why the low milage? The push i get from 2nd gear to 3rd is great around town. But would just this cause the low MPG.I dont mean to hijack but i am just WOW that i am 3-4 MPG below what you guys are saying. Also AWD make a difference?

Still even with your low speeds you guys must be driving exceptionally hard - my car is tuned and i really get on it frequently and would have to struggle to get less than 20 mpg.

1) Use OEM plugs
2) Use Mobile 1
3) use GOOD 93 (BP, Sunnoco, or Shell)
4) Proper tire pressure
5) Proper tire pressure
6) Proper tire pressure

AWD does absolutely make a difference - 2 to 3 mpg
