second volvo, 02 s-80 and 06 s-60. both had noises around right front wheel well. sounds like barb wire scraping against the fender when the wheel hits a bump??

 

have you checked the brake backing plates? pull the tire off and have a look around - there should be marks if the tire is hitting a fender liner etc

 

I just went through this. I couldn't find the noise until I removed the caliper and found the dust shield had somehow gotten slightly bent at the top. It was on the driver's side and the noise was most noticeable when I made a right turn.
