shock replacement
I just bought a 04 S60 with 80,000 miles on it . The ride is fair but when hitting more than just a little bump . The springs or struts seems to bottom out . When does every one replace struts and shocks ?
thanks !
thanks !
Im not getting any wheel hop . What did it cost you to replace them ?
Im also thinking of going a head and replacing the timing belt . Does any one know the cost of having the dealer do this ?
thanks for the replies !

There is a wide range in price when it comes to shocks and struts. Figure 2 hours labor for shocks or struts, 4 hours for both. Alignment needed afterwards. There are a few parts (strut mounts and spring seats) that may need replacement which can add to the parts cost but not on labor. I remember paying $200 for Monroe Sensatrac shocks and struts and did the job myself. They aren't bad but I wished I had spent the extra money and got Bilsteins. I just bought a set of Bilstein HD's today and paid $350, which is crazy cheap.
Last time I checked with my dealer I was quoted about $430 or so for the timing belt. Dealerships, believe it or not, can vary quite a bit.
