I own a 2002 S60 (non-turbo).It has been a great car. I noticed some alarming smoke from the tail pipe. This smoke is only apparent under very heavy acceleration (passing mode, high rpm). I was in passing mode, high rpm, going up a steep grade when I saw it last. There is no smoke under normal driving. Any suggestions?

I would say closer to black / white.

 

I would suggest running premium grade gasoline and maybe even get an injector flush to clean any carbon buil-up or deposits. This ensures a proper, clean burn.
