Default Split J Hose ?

Hi guys,

Been browsing the forums a while. Seems like a knowledagble crew. I brought my S60 (non-turbo) to the dealership after the CEL came on. They said the cats are bad and that it has a split J hose. Whats a J hose ? IS that lingo for this car? I'm guessing its the hose going to the evap., but where's the evap on these cars ?

Thanks for the help...

Not sure what they mean by J-hose either.

Did they tell you the code?

If the car has Vaccum or exhaust leaks it can thow a code for the Cat.

But also if the injectors are bad it will throw a code for the Cat.

Will do...

Tech, thats a nice notch. What kind of work do you have done to it ?

I'm working on a 331 right now. Looking for around 450 horse. I'm looking for a 4 eye to put her in though.

Nice work... I'll post up what the guy says about a "J" hose being split tomorrow.

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: I just talked to my sister. She's the one that talked to the tech. Apparently the guy said its near the fuel tank? She *thinks* he said behind the fuel tank.

I suspect what they are talking about is the hose at the evap canister to the canister shut off valve that is shaped, well, like a j and it has a split and causing a evaporative emission code. Just guessing.

Sounds like BIGDAN might be close. Sounds like it might be it. But the canister is above the tank in the rear.
Usually the exhaust will have to be dropped to get to it properly.

Bob it is still work in progress. (Will be for a long time with 4 kids).
Check out this post for what I am doing to it soon it is in the garage waiting parts.

https://volvoforums.com/m_35106/tm.htm

Also installing a set of BBK shorty's as well.

When I am done will be very happy with about 325-350.

Right now the engine that is in there is one out of a Grand marques. With a flat tappet cam.
Going to make it a real HO engine with roller cam.

The original engine is sitting on the floor in the garage waiting a rebuild.

Where is the EVAP canister located? How about the valve?
