Default Steering column adjustment lever

have a 2004 S60, and the lever for the tilt/telescope no longer locks in place, is this somewhat easy to replace myself, or is this something the car needs to into the dealership for.

Do it your self.. It takes a little fineness but if you pull the wheel all the way out and up you can slide the lever in and snap it in to place .. Take it slow .. I had the dealer do it for me the first time for Free just buy asking if there was anything special i needed to do when replacing it... Watched them do it .. Son has broken it 2 more times in the past 2 years...

Default Thank You MYS6T!

MYS6T, you saved me a ton of time and trouble! The tilt lever broke on my 2007 S60 and all of the other threads are saying (possibly about other models or years) either that the steering column needs to be pulled back or the dash needs to come out. You're absolutely right, that it can be done without moving or removing anything! At least on S60's from the early to late 2000's. Had I not found your post, I would have tried to loosen enough bolts to pull the steering column back.

But I played with installing the new lever long enough, that it finally went into place. The trick seems to be pulling the steering wheel out as much as possible and tilting the handle on the new lever up while maneuvering it onto the tilting mechanism. The part of the dashboard that's in the way is soft, so it will give some.

Thank you so much for posting that!
