Greetings,

I'm having a problem with a rattling sun roof. It doesn't leak, but when I go over a bump or shut the door it rattles big time. I've taken it to the Volvo dealer and they say I have to replace the entire sun roof and there is no fix for what's wrong with the SR.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I live in San Jose, California.

If at all possible, try to narrow down where you think the rattling is coming from in the sun roof. I know you said it doesn't leak, but check (if you haven't) the condition of the seals and other sorts of rubber pieces when the sun roof is open. Hopefully its just the seal starting to ware and loose its cushion or a piece flew off when it was open, and in that case you could just replace either one instead of the whole sunroof. Regardless of what the problem is, I don't think the entire sunroof needs to be replaced. Maybe it is something that simply needs to be tightened. The dealership or "stealership" (as I've seen on other treads here) is always looking to fix a problem in the most expensive way possible. Good luck with the sunroof!
