Is there anyway to keep Nav screen from rising?

Default Is there anyway to keep Nav screen from rising?

Just recently bought an 08 S60. Beautiful car, love the comfort and feel, even with the high mileage on car. The nav screen rises everytime the car is started, as I assume it's supposed to. But the screen says to insert dvd into the player. Tried both dvds, neither will read. Also, the button on steering wheel and the remote control neither one will work. Is there anyway to just simply cut off the navigation system so the screen will not rise. I find it distracting, and this car will be for my daughter who will be getting her license soon, and she surely doesn't need another distraction. Thank you in advance for any advice and help on this topic.
