2002 S60 turbo.......

Hm? I've got it on my list to replace the coolant temp sensor and thermostat. Called my local part place and they have an exact OEM thermo (194F) and a CTS.

Just for kicks I called my local dealer. I was told that you can't buy a CTS and Thermo alone, they come as one unit. I haven't done this job on a Vlvo yet, I've done many other cars. One unit? He said you can't replace just the CTS or Thermo.

I've been getting CTS for my Jaguars in the $25>30 price range and the local parts shop said $70. Gotta check with IPD.

But anyhow the entire gotta buy the entire assembly seems odd? Is it true?

 

It depends on which one you have.

One style you can get the thermostat and ECT separately. The other, you can get the ECT separately but if you want the thermostat, it comes as part of the housing, which also includes the ECT.

 

Guess I have to take a look first. Having an inexpensive thermo/temp sensor turn into a high $$$$ replacment must have been conceived by the same brain child - engineer that made the very short transmission dipstick tube. To check the trans level you need a 4 foot long arm and be as flexible as a gymnast.

Got busy working on some of my other cars and didn't get a chance to look but it it is the ebay price is very reasonable.

Plus it comes witht he gasket. The dealer wanted money for the gasket on top of what I was quoted.
