Default Timing Belt question, Can the engine run and idle fine with the crank off one tooth?

Ok first off, I spent a full day almost searching forums and the internet trying to find this answer, Posting on the forum is my last resort. I did my Timing belt and water pump yesterday on my 2004 S60R everything seemed to go well, but after putting it back together, the top two timing marks seem fine, but the crank marks seem a smidge off.

Before I took the old belt off the pointer on the engine block seemed to be pointing at the first of the 2 timing marks on the crank, and when I finished it seems to be aiming at the second timing mark. If I set the pointer inbetween the 2 marks the top seems just a tad off. It doesn't look a full tooth off up top, Is it possible that the crank is out one tooth from the cams?

I did start the car and it idled fine, I took it for a drive (without the timing covers on) and it seemed to run fine and not be down on power, I threw no codes, but it seemed like the engine was louder inside, Maybe just because the covers were off? Can the engine run and idle smoothly with the crank off one tooth from the cams?

Yes in a way it can. Line up the crank mark where it should be and see where the cam marks are. Sometimes the top cover can shift a little and make it look like things are off.
If it did not throw codes you should be fine.

I only drove it about 3/4 of a mile, until the coolant light came on (had changed it and the level settled) and I took it home, It did idle in the garage for 15 mins prior and no codes, maybe i'm just being over critical, the tensioner seemed too tight also, i'll need to readjust, it was a lil chilly when i set it, and it seemed to be favoring the right side of the tensioner marks after.

Take it on a longer test drive as long as you have no codes you should be fine.

Reset the tensioner, put it back together and flogged her for a good 20mins, redline a dozen times, she took it like a champ, no codes. I Think I was just being over cautious (like there is such a thing with timing)
