Tire recommendation for 2014 S60 T5 AWD
Hello forum, I own a 2014 S60 T5 AWD and i am unhappy with the tire performance. I wear the ContactPro 235/45 17 and it cannot withstand even the most shallow of potholes without shaking the car. Its an uncomfortable ride at best particularly since last winter when all roads got impacted.
I am thinking a 235/55 or 235/60 could possibly do the trick?
If not has anyone have any experience with any other size?
Thanks,
someferge

You'll almost certainly throw off the accuracy of the speedometer. To keep the same diameter of the original, you'd have to go several sizes narrower on the tread with the larger aspect ratio you're looking at.
Thank you - in practical terms you mean I should keep the 45 in 235/45/17 and instead widen the tire as in 245/45/17?
How about a small correction in each direction as in 245/50/17?
I am looking for a more comfortable ride.

The rule of thumb is that if you go a size wider, you need to go to the next lowest aspect ratio(the 45) or if you want to go with a size narrower tire, you go up on the aspect ratio. It's not exact but if you go by the tire's circumference or diameter, you can compare them side by side to see if there is any significant difference.
Google tire calculator and fill in the specs to compare sizes.
I have what I believe to be the same tires, they 235/45 17 at least.
I agree completely the ride is **** and our roads are worse, here anyway.
Im hoping a different tire and 245/45 17 will help.
Going narrower will look terrible as the tires already look narrow to me anyway.
Good luck.
