Default Tires

I have a 2008 S60, I am in the process of purchasing new tires.
What is the difference between performance and touring tires?
I bought Bridgestone tires for my s40 years ago and the tires I bought did not give me a quite ride, when I drove the car on the expressway. I cannot describe the sound.

The touring tires will be quieter and will last longer but won't hold the road like the performance tire.
My wife has an 08 S60 2.5T and we got rid of those Michelin's due to lots of noise and we had one tire that had a problem...we could move it around on the car and it would pull different ways.
We went with the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's. My wife is not a car lover but she noticed the difference before we got 1/2 mile down the road. These tires are much quieter and makes the car drive like it should. We now have about 40,000 miles on them and they will definitely last to the 70,000 mile warranty. Give them a look.

Some times the road surface makes tires louder then they should be.
