Is there a way to verify the software version in my s60 or when the dealer tells me I have to buy it and try to install it to find out. If it is already updated to the latest version I am out 200 dollars.

No way to check it unless you hook it up to VIDA.

 

so you can check the version before you shell out the money? And I don't mean me, I mean dealer, repair guy, etc,
If I bought a vida dice unit could I do it myself?

 

Yeah just go to the dealer and tell them that you want a TCM upgrade (assuming that's what you want). If the software is up to date VIDA will tell the tech and you will not have to pay.
You can buy the VIDA software but unless you want to shell or the thousands and thousands of dollars a year for the ability to perform software downloads, you cannot do it yourself.
