Trying to part a S60 2.5T (2006)
I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but I have a 2006 Volvo S60 2.5 T (FWD) that I’m looking to sell. It was my first car and I drove it to just over 405,000 kms before the upkeep got too much for me.
I had the car for a bit over 3 years with only a troublesome ball joint, some new tires, and some foggy headlights. So I decided to replace the front strut assembly, stabilizer link, the control arm, and put on two new front tires as well as get a new solenoid to pass emissions about 3 weeks after the suspension. A bit over a month after the emissions test the power steering started cutting in and out and when I brought it in it turned out the power steering rack had gone (swapped out the pump without any improvement). The problem with the rack resulted in the front tires randomly rotating into a turn something like 3 to 5 degrees. This happened twice on the highway where I lost control over 100 km/h and I couldn’t trust the car anymore for my work commute from Waterloo to Mississauga. I still had to drive it a bit after that, and I would comfortably drive this car in a straight line at 80 km/h and 60 km/h around corners. However, I would not take it on a highway as is.
I ended up getting a new car as I’m not mechanically inclined, and I don’t have a garage, so to replace the rack was too big of a repair for me when I’d just put $3,000 into the car to replace the front suspension, front tires, and solenoid.
The car still drives. The engine is fine once you warm it up and stills pulls you back in your seat, but I couldn’t sell it in good conscience to someone looking to drive it unless they intended to fix the power rack issue.
I’m looking to pull out the stereo to sell separately as it’s still worth a decent chunk with the sub (The car would be without a stereo). I’ve also got brand new winter tires from the year before if anyone is interested ($850 tires only from November 2016, less than 15,000 kms on them, come with steel rims). I’m looking for $1500 for the car as is, without the stereo, $2000 if you want the tires as well. I still have receipts with dates for the work done.
I’m wondering if anyone here might have the ability to use it for parts and might be interested in it? I'm in Kitchener/Waterloo Ontario.
