Default Upgrading Wheel Package

Hey Everyone!

I have a 2013 S60 T5 model, and ever since I bought it I've regretted not getting the higher end model at the very least for the 18" wheels. (my T5 has the factory 17" wheels). I've been looking at Volvo's wheel selection and I really like the Freja 18" wheels. Does anyone have any advice about whether or not its a bad idea to upgrade from a 17" wheel to an 18" wheel on a car that was perhaps designed for a 17" wheel? Is there any cause for concern?

Any advice would be appreciated! I'm ready to lay down my credit card for those beautiful Frejas.

Doug,

My 2013 S60 came with 17" wheels. I had assumed they were 18" when I traded the 2010 S80 and planned on using my 18" snow tires come winter. Much to my chagrin, the tire shop clued me in regarding the discrepancy.

I bought 18" rims from TireRack for around $600. They are a perfect fit and came with the proper mounting bolts. Just make sure that the bolt circle and wheel offset (distance from the plane of the bolt flange and the inside line of the tire rim) is correct to avoid the wheel extending too far outside the wheel well.

The new tires will have a lower profile, therefore a shorter sidewall. That will improve the car's handling.

Enjoy!
