Volvo fob creation turns into electrical and other issues when my car was fine before
2012 S60 125,000 miles. I lost my fob unfortunately and didn't have a spare so dealer needed to create a new one. I had no issues with my car before I lost the fob. It just sat in my garage until the tow truck came to take it directly to the dealer. I received a call that they were having difficulty programming it. They said they thought it was an electrical system problem and would need to run diagnostics for $300. I asked how that could be and they said I must've taken it elsewhere and they did something that caused the problem and said the tow driver must have tried to do something with it!? 🙄😬 Driver was going directly to the dealer (I asked so I could give the dealer a heads up). The service manager and the dealer manager would not return my call.
I reported this with customer care... it was all written communication and he said sorry can't help you with this and closed the case. I could get it towed to another dealer that's over 100 miles away but my concern is they caused these issues and I'll end up paying for it. Final communication with customer care is attached.
Side note: I called 3 other dealers in the area and spoke with the service managers. These were their responses: 1. I call BS. 2. This is not possible 3. It sounds like they did something on their end and are not taking responsibility so placing this on you.
My S60 is sitting at the dealer, I've spent $$$ on Uber and a rental because I don't know what the next steps are. I feel confident that if they run the Diagnostics there will be a list of items that I'll have to pay and I'll continue paying for a rental. I'm a single female so there's that working against me too.
