Default VOLVO lettering

hi, i don't want to pretend having an 09 model, i just like the looks of the letters further apart, so i changed it on our 2005 t5. don't know how far apart the letters on the 09 models are, mine are now a little over 3" - i like it way better than the original spacing.

I think it looks very nice. I believe the new letters are also much larger then previous model years. The new version is also spread much further apart. So, I don't think you'll have to worry that anyone will think you are trying to make your car look newer. Again, I think it looks nice.

I wouldn't worry too much about what others think, as mods. Wether visual or under the hood is about making your vehicle "yours" and making it stand out from the crowd! Looks good!! I would like this on my 850 but it probably wouldnt look good.. Nice Job!

I too prefer how the newer ('09) model "Volvo" badging looks.

Mind sharing where you got the lettering and how you did this? Did the old badge have holes that needed to be filled? Are the new ones stuck on with adhesive? I'd like to do this for a nice weather project.

i found that to remove the letters the easiest way is dental floss or fishing line - just slide it behind the letters and "cut" them loose. for re-applying i used self-sticking molding tape (manufacturer is called magic mount). i bought it at pep-boys, but they have that or similar stuff at autozone and other stores too.
no holes or anything need to be filled, just the place were the letters were needs to be cleaned good. i left the "L" on the car and just spread the rest like i wanted them to be.
as for the size of the letters, i thought the 09 ones were bigger too, but last weekend at the dealer i measured the letters on an 08 and an 09 - they are the exact same size.

thanks guys.

Wow, I would have never guessed that the letters are the same size. They look bigger on the 09's. I guess you've started a new trend. Again, nice work!

Without nothing to do this afternoon, I did it to my car.

Thanks for the idea.

Maybe if I get bored again will change it to EVOLVE
