my g/f loves s60's and may be getting one. it will prob be an 05 with around 30k on it. few questions. are there anything to look for and worrie about with these cars? also how is the awd vs the fwd, there are a couple of cars and there seems to be no difference between them. i want the most reliable one i can get. any and all info will be much appreciated. thanks

 

Mostly just little electronic bugaboos. AWD gas mileage will be a little lower. If you don't need th AWD for winter driving then I would go with the FWD. Also, you have to be cautious with your tire rotations on the AWD's to make sure you don't mess it up. You basically need to have similar amounts of tread on all tires or it can create problems.

 

I got an 04 AWD and i love it, it gets around 600-650 to a tank, winter driving is great, i haven't got stuck yet even in foot foot and a half snow. i had one issue with it so far that was 2 of the coils were bad and need to be replaced, other than that i cant complain. I've had my car for about a year now its got 134000k on it.

 

all pretty good thing, that makes me feel better. anything i should look for during a test drive and looking at it? seems awd vs fwd i should go for the better deal. keep it coming. thanks guys

 

If it is anAWD make sure it drives straight and like one of the posters mentioned that the tires look good and wear is normal. You may also want to look at the rims and look for ones that are really bent. Bent rims are not a sign of abuse but rather the weakness of them. All of mine are bent to some degree. A severely bent rim will not balance out and give you a shaky ride. Now who wants that in a Volvo.

I put 126k on an 04 s60 2.4i with one $500.00 sensor replacement. In my book that was a good car. Upgraded to the R was the ony reason I parted with it.

 

ok so i will get a fed if i can just to avoid any small issues. but other thent hat they are rock solid cars? just change trans fluid every 20-30k and i should be good right?
